Le c\u00e9l\u00e8bre architecte italien Renzo Piano a termin\u00e9 un nouveau complexe majeur de parc, biblioth\u00e8que et th\u00e9\u00e2tre \u00e0 Ath\u00e8nes. Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l'un des plus gros dons jamais r\u00e9alis\u00e9s pour un projet de construction culturelle.<\/p>\n

L'immense centre culturel de la Fondation Stavros Niarchos SNFCC est situ\u00e9 dans le quartier de Kallithea, au sud de la capitale grecque. C'est le nouveau si\u00e8ge de la Biblioth\u00e8que nationale de Gr\u00e8ce et aussi de l'Op\u00e9ra national grec. Le SNFCC est nich\u00e9 sous un nouveau parc en pente de 170 000 m\u00e8tres carr\u00e9s et \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 d'un lac rectangulaire de 400 m\u00e8tres de long.<\/p>\n

Un don de 596 millions d'euros de la Fondation Stavros Niarchos a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9pens\u00e9 pour le projet. L'organisme de bienfaisance mis en place apr\u00e8s la mort de Stavros Niarchos, un magnat de la navigation grec milliardaire.<\/p>\n

Une fois le complexe termin\u00e9, la fondation l'a remis en cadeau \u00e0 l'\u00c9tat grec m\u00eame s'il continuera \u00e0 contribuer \u00e0 son entretien.<\/p>\n

Les plans d'un don d'une telle ampleur par la Fondation Stavros Niarchos ont commenc\u00e9 en 1998. Initialement, la fondation pr\u00e9voyait de faire des contributions s\u00e9par\u00e9es \u00e0 la Biblioth\u00e8que nationale et \u00e0 l'Op\u00e9ra national. Plus tard, en 2006, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de construire un complexe pour les deux organisations. Apr\u00e8s des discussions avec l'\u00c9tat grec, la zone de l'ancien hippodrome a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisie pour le projet. En 2008, la fondation a choisi l'architecte italien Renzo Piano pour concevoir le complexe et en 2012, les travaux de construction ont commenc\u00e9.<\/p>\n

En 2008, apr\u00e8s un concours, Renzo Piano Building Workshop a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9lectionn\u00e9 pour le projet. L'objectif \u00e9tait de transformer un ancien parking laiss\u00e9 par les Jeux olympiques de 2004 et faisant partie des stades abandonn\u00e9s qui pars\u00e8ment encore la baie au-del\u00e0 du complexe.<\/p>\n

Le premier mouvement a \u00e9t\u00e9 de cr\u00e9er une vaste colline artificielle qui s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve vers l'extr\u00e9mit\u00e9 sud du site tout en cr\u00e9ant une vue sur la mer qui baignait autrefois la baie de Kallithea et a longtemps \u00e9t\u00e9 repouss\u00e9e par le d\u00e9veloppement et une autoroute majeure.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

De nos premi\u00e8res observations l\u00e0-bas, a \u00e9merg\u00e9 l'id\u00e9e qu'en \u00e9levant le terrain, avec une l\u00e9g\u00e8re pente et un parcours progressif, nous pourrions restaurer la \u00ab belle vue \u00bb de Kallithea, \u00e9crit Renzo Piano dans un essai sur le projet. De cette fa\u00e7on et sans s'en rendre compte, les visiteurs d\u00e9ambulant dans le parc se retrouveraient \u00e0 une hauteur de trente m\u00e8tres.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

La paysagiste new-yorkaise Deborah Nevins a con\u00e7u le nouveau parc en pente qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 plant\u00e9 de plantes grecques indig\u00e8nes. Le parc s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve vers le sud comme une colline artificielle, il forme le toit de l'op\u00e9ra et de la biblioth\u00e8que. Son sommet s'\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 32 m\u00e8tres et est coiff\u00e9 d'un toit fin comme du papier maintenu en l'air par de fines colonnes.<\/p>\n

Le toit de 100 x 100, surnomm\u00e9 le \u00ab tapis volant \u00bb par Renzo Piano, est surmont\u00e9 de panneaux photovolta\u00efques qui g\u00e9n\u00e8rent 2,5 m\u00e9gawatts pour alimenter le b\u00e2timent. Sous son extension ombrag\u00e9e se trouve un espace public encore plus en pente, ainsi qu'une grande salle de lecture aux parois de verre appel\u00e9e le Phare.<\/p>\n

Au rez-de-chauss\u00e9e, l'op\u00e9ra et la biblioth\u00e8que sont organis\u00e9s autour d'une place publique nomm\u00e9e agora - en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux espaces de rassemblement centraux des villes de la Gr\u00e8ce antique.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 l'int\u00e9rieur de la biblioth\u00e8que, des murs massifs d'\u00e9tag\u00e8res offrent un espace de stockage pour sa collection, qui comprend plus de 5 000 manuscrits, dossiers, documents et gravures datant du IXe si\u00e8cle. Dans cette partie du b\u00e2timent, vous trouverez \u00e9galement un studio d'enregistrement de musique, une p\u00e9pini\u00e8re d'entreprises d\u00e9di\u00e9e \u00e0 l'entrepreneuriat et des espaces pour les enfants et les adolescents, tous situ\u00e9s au rez-de-chauss\u00e9e et au premier \u00e9tage.<\/p>\n

De l'autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, vous trouverez l'op\u00e9ra qui comprend deux auditoriums. La premi\u00e8re, contenant 450 places, accueillera des op\u00e9ras et des ballets traditionnels, tandis que la plus grande salle de 1 400 places sera utilis\u00e9e pour des "repr\u00e9sentations exp\u00e9rimentales". Il y a aussi un assortiment de loges, d'espaces de r\u00e9p\u00e9tition et de production de costumes et d'accessoires.<\/p>\n

Le parc contient des milliers de buissons, de nouveaux arbres et d'arbustes. Il comprend des installations sportives, des pistes de course \u00e0 une aire de jeux.<\/p>\n

Le centre culturel Stavros Niarchos devient le premier b\u00e2timent public en Gr\u00e8ce \u00e0 obtenir une certification Platinum LEED, en reconnaissance de sa durabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n
